Survivor Stories
Sonia Frenkel
This is Sonia Welis Frenkel, Marsha Gorren's mother Here is two survivor stories: This story was written by Marsha Goren (but I summarized) it) about her mother Sonia Wellis Frenkel who was a Holocaust survivor, this story and other can be viewed at http://www.globaldreamers.org/
One Holocaust Survivior was Sonia Welis Frenkel Sonia was captured by the Nazis when she was very young. The only reason she survived was because she could sew. She was forced to sew German soldiers Uniforms. While working as a dressmaker one of her friends convinced her to steal a piece of cloth so they might have more bread. While returning with the stolen cloth a German SS soldier caught her and put a gun in her mouth. He tried to shoot but for some reason the gun didn't go off. When Sonia arrived in the US her husband was told that she was a very sick woman because of the Holocaust. When Sonia became ill with cancer, she kept asking "where is Marsha, I have to see Marsha.". Marsha spent a week with her mother. Then one morning when Marsha woke up she went to talk to Sonia in her room, Sonia asked Marsha to remove all the suitcases from the house, she was very emotional and she said that suitcases made her think of the Holocaust. Marsha called her brother and told him to remove all the suitcases. She told me that the goodbye was hard enough but the suitcases made it unbearable. Sonia died waving and crying at the same time.

What I learned from watching Safe Haven Warsaw Zoo
I learned a lot from watching Safe Haven Warsaw Zoo.
Here are several things I learned.
For centuries Jews had fled the country to find a safe place in Poland
Ganzabinski Zabinski owned the Warsaw Zoo
Hitler video taped the people in the Ghettos
The Warsaw Zoo became a target for bombings
In the original bombing that started it all, there were animals that had fled in fear that then lay dead or wounded on the street
German news cameras where there in the Ghetto to record what they called acts of Humanitarian
Jews had to wear and armband with the Star of David to symbolize that they were Jewish
Adults were considered everyone over 6 months. Adults were not allowed to have milk.
An 8 foot wall bared the Ghettos from the rest of the city
Children would sneak out at night to bring food to the starving Ghetto. They would often risk death.
Why was the paper clip the symbol of the Holocaust?
The paper clip was the symbol of the Holocaust because of some people from Norway that wore paperclips as a symbol of their resistance against the Holocaust.
My Personal Feelings about the Holocaust.
I think that they Holocaust was a horrible thing that happened in history. I'm very happy that it's behind us! The people that were in they Holocaust were incredibly brave. Its so sad that so many people died in the Holocaust. They were all brave and will be remembered forever. I think that it is horrible that Hitler and the Nazis wanted to kill jews so badly.
